2 From Europe Make Brazil Phone Deal
Big news for Brazil.
Portugal Telecom and Telef?nica, owners of Telesp Cellular, are buying Tele Centro Oeste for $1 Billion.
From the NYTimes:
Together, Telesp and Tele Centro Oeste would have 16.8 million subscribers, more than three times those of the next biggest carrier in Brazil, Telecom Italia Mobile.
The deal would also fill in nearly all the gaps in Telesp’s service map, leaving only one state in the north, Minas Gerais, where it must depend on a roaming agreement with a local carrier, V?sper.
